África tiene nueve años, es una niña trans. No es ningún tabú en su vida, nunca lo ha sido, y tampoco lo ha sido para su familia. Cuando estuvimos haciendo esta sesión, la niña irradiaba felicidad. En el colegio tenía infinidad de amigos que la aceptaban y la acogían como a cualquier compañera más. Demostró una madurez increíble para su corta edad, pues durante nuestro encuentro alegó varias veces que ella jugaba con todo, que no había juguetes de niño ni de niña. Su madre, sonriente, la acompañaba aquella tarde en la que ambas jugaban juntas con un kit de hacer pulseras, del mismo modo en que la acompañó cuando África le contó que era una niña. Desde que lo supo, ella y el resto de su familia tuvieron claro que apoyarían a la pequeña en todo el camino que se le abría por delante. El retrato de madre e hija es un rayo de luz, esperanza de futuro para las nuevas generaciones de menores trans.

Africa is nine years old, she is a trans girl. It's not taboo in her life, it never has been, and it hasn't been for her family either. When we were doing this session, the girl radiated happiness. At school she had a lot of friends who accepted her and welcomed her like any other classmate. She showed an incredible maturity for her young age, because during our meeting she claimed several times that she played with everything, that there were no boy's or girl's toys. Her mother, smiling, accompanied her that afternoon when they both played together with a bracelet-making kit, just as she accompanied her when Africa told her she was a girl. From the moment she found out, it was clear to her and the rest of her family that they would support the little girl in the road ahead. The portrait of mother and daughter is a ray of light, it is hope for the future for the new generations of trans kids.
